Presentation Notes

× Join the North Peace Cultural Centre and Stage North Theatre Society in celebrating the 75th anniversary of the building of the Alaska Highway and see the fear and excitement the building of the Alaska Highway brought to Fort St. John. Twenty four local actors and 12 production crew are recreating the shock and awe of the locals when 10,000 US soldiers and huge machines invaded the Peace Country in 1942. Determined to build a road to Alaska through the mud and muskeg, the US Army got help and comfort from local residents. The Alcan Craze of ’42 brings those stories to life with vivid detail and northern humour.

The Alcan Craze of ’42 is an original play by local playwright Deborah Butler and directed by BC actor and director Michael Armstrong.
